K Chandrasekhar Rao meets BJP MLAs, sparks speculation

BJP rejects political hue, says it sought nod for Atal statue.

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao held a meeting with BJP MLAs at Pragathi Bhavan on Tuesday, soon after his return from the national capital. After completing his four-day visit to Delhi, Mr Rao reached Hyderabad on Monday night. In Delhi, the CM met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several Union Ministers. In the wake of speculations on early elections and secret ties between the TRS and the BJP, the CM’s meeting with the BJP MLAs takes on political significance.

However, the BJP MLAs said that no political discussions were held with the Chief Minister. They said that they had sought the appointment of CM KCR to make a request. They wanted to install former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s statue at a proper place in the city and also to construct a Vajpayee memorial park.

The BJP leaders and MLAs have been critical of the TRS government and CM KCR in media conferences and public meetings. However, on Tuesday after the meeting with KCR, the BJP MLAs changed their tone. Speaking to the media, Telangana BJP president and MLA K Laxman along with party MLAs said that they had discussed with CM KCR for about 15 minutes. They had requested to install Vajpayee’s statue for his services to Hyderabad city when he was Prime Minister. He said that the CM had responded positively. He said there were no political discussions in the meeting.
