Gauri Lankesh case: Bike used by assassins found?

The sources added saying that the SIT did not make the recovery official as the team was still verifying the bike details.

Bengaluru: The motorcycle used during the assassination of in noted journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh has reportedly been found in Nanded, Maharashtra.

However, the SIT has denied any such recovery. “There has been no recovery of the bike so far,” said M.N. Anucheth, DCP Admin and Investigation Officer of SIT.

According to unconfirmed sources, the SIT got the lead from the Maharashtra ATS with regard to the bike, leading to the significant breakthrough in Gauri murder case. The sources added saying that the SIT did not make the recovery official as the team was still verifying the bike details. “The SIT is will verify the details such as chassis no and other details,” added the source.

Last week, two 7.65 mm country-made pistols were reportedly identified in the cache of arms seized by Maharashtra ATS in Mumbai's Nalasopara as possible killer weapons in Gauri and Narendra Dabholkar case.

The pistols have been sent for ballistic examination. If the report confirms that they were the killer weapons it would be a major recovery for SIT in finally wrapping up the case.

The SIT has so far arrested 12 people in the Gauri murder case and Parashuram Waghmore is said to be the alleged shooter, while another accused Ganesh Maskin is said to have driven the bike.
