State failed to do justice, say AgriGold victims

He demanded that the government should expedite the auctioning of assets and settle the accounts of depositors, who deposited below Rs 15,000.

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has failed to fulfil its promise to do justice to the victims of AgriGold victims, said AgriGold Agents and Victims Welfare Association (AGAVWA) president Muppalla Nageswara Rao.

Addressing mediapersons here on Monday, he said AgriGold had deceived lakhs of families in five states and that it was still playing with the lives of victims. Mr. Rao said the death toll of agents and victims has been increasing by the day and that almost 30 agents ended their lives even after the Chief Minister promised justice to them.

"AgriGold cheated on thousands of innocent investors and depositors and is still searching for alternative ways to escape from legal action with the support of political leaders," he said.

He demanded that the government should expedite the auctioning of assets and settle the accounts of depositors, who deposited below Rs 15,000.

The AGAVWA will continue its fight against AgriGold till all the victims get their money back, Mr Rao said.
