India to confront Pak with US inputs which nail its role in Pathankot attack

The evidence was given by US to NIA under the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty 3 months ago.

New Delhi: India is preparing to confront Pakistan with fresh evidence provided by the US to National Investigation Agency (NIA) nailing its role in the January 2016 Pathankot attack.

The NIA was preparing a crucial report based on the evidence given by US under the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) three months ago.

Sources added that the agency would send a detailed dossier regarding Pak hand in the attacks to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) following which India will once again send a report to Pakistan on fresh evidence received from the US.

Earlier, it was reported that the US handed over crucial evidence to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) revealing that the IP addresses of the Facebook groups used by the handlers was traced back to Pakistan.

The four fidayeen of JeM, identified as Nasir Hussain from Punjab, Abu Bakar from Gujranwala and Umar Farooq and Abdul Qayum from Sindh, were in regular touch with their handlers in Pakistan.

The documents also include one Kashif Jaan's conversations with other Pakistan-based JeM office-bearers.

Jaan was using a Facebook account connected to the same mobile number which the attackers called from Pathankot after abducting Punjab police SP Salwinder Singh, apart from Whatsapp chats and use of other platforms, says the report.

These accounts, operated by Jaan, were accessed around the time of the attack using IP addresses of telecom firms based in Pakistan.

Facebook pages containing Jihadi material and videos and comments condemning arrest of Jaish cadres in Pakistan have also been found.
