Hyderabad: Bonafide bikers cautious
Hyderabad: Genuine bike enthusiasts who usually drive from Hyderabad to various other states on their high-end bikes say that they take all precautionary measures while riding.
A bike rider and financial consultant from Hyderabad, Mr Mihar Shah, said that bike enthusiasts usually drive bikes with engine capacity higher than 500 cc. “I have a Honda Fireblade-ABS for city riding, but I prefer a Triumph Tiger XRX-800 for long distance drives like to Goa, Mysore and other destinations. We go for long rides with a team consisting of at least 10 bikes. We take all precautionary measures like wearing helmets, kneepads and other shields. We also have a four-wheeler to carry our luggage and medical kits,” he said.
“People who ride normal bikes cannot handle bikes with engine capacity above 200 cc. They need special training to ride such bikes for prevention of accidents. Bikes that are higher than 200 cc cannot be driven in second and third gear for long as the engine heats up. Genuine riders do not drive their bikes rashly,” he said.
Mr Shah added that riders of high-end bikes are trained on how to handle the bikes and the precautions to be taken during long distance rides.
“Two or three cases were registered in which high-end bikes met with fatal accidents due to the lack of experience of the riders. The case of Azharuddin’s son is also connected to lack of experience and training,” he said.
