Directors planning to develop a film city in Amaravati

Mr Raja said that usually, a majority film industries will operate in the capital cities of the states.

Amaravati: Amaravati was famous for film shootings where popular Tollywood hits like Saptapadi, Krishnaveni, Devalayam, Naku Pellam Kavali, Sasirekha Parinayam and others were shot.

Telugu film director, Dileep Raja and several others are seeking developing a film city in the Amaravati capital region which would provide employment to local artistes and boost tourism in Amaravati.

Welcoming the proposed new nine theme cities in the Amaravati capital region, Mr Raja said that usually, a majority film industries will operate in the capital cities of the states. However, AP government is promoting film industry in Visakhapatnam.

Mentioning about the natural scenic beautiful places on the banks of Krishna river and various place in Guntur district, he said the film industry should be promoted in the new capital. “For the past two years I am asking for the promotion of film industry, started my own studio but in vain,” he lamented.

Mr Raja said that the government is establishing world-class new cities. So, it can develop a world-class film industry like Hollywood in Amaravati which would add feather to the cap of the new capital. He said once the AP government brought Telugu film ind-ustry to Hyderabad from Chennai, it largely deve-loped Hyderabad, but now Telugu film industry is facing trouble for shootings in Hyderabad and Telangana locations due to bifurcation. He said establishing a film city will boost Amara-vati development, provide revenue to the state government and cut the cost to the producers.

Senior technician, N. Vastav, working in the Telugu film industry, said that majority arti-stes working in the Telu-gu film industry belong to Guntur and Krishna districts and they will get proper work if the film city established in Amaravati. He sought establishing of top class film city in Amaravati with world-class equipment by the government.
