Uttam dispels rumours about joining BRS

Hyderabad: Nalgonda MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and his wife, former MLA Padmavathi Reddy, have refuted as unfounded and malicious, rumours that they were leaving the Congress to join the BRS. In a joint media statement on Saturday, they attributed the rumours to a Congress leader “who holds a significant position within the party.”

Uttam Kumar Reddy, a former TPCC chief, said Padmavathi Reddy had continued to stay in Kodad after her defeat in 2018 to work for the people. The couple said they do not have children and devote all their life to public service.

Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that he and his wife had been the target of "completely false and defamatory stories" for the past two years. He said that these stories had been "deeply painful" and had been part of a "targeted campaign" to undermine his position in the Congress party and eliminate his associates and followers.

The Congress MP said he was unhappy with certain issues and developments in the party but he would follow due process and not speak about them on any outside forum. He also said that he had never met or spoken to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao other than across the aisle in the Assembly or at state functions.
