UP: Judge transferred for ordering cop to take off uniform in court

The constable wrote to the district police chief and sought voluntary retirement.

Allahabad: Acting on a complaint from the police, the Allahabad High Court, on Saturday, transferred the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Agra to Mahoba in Uttarakhand.

Santosh Kumar Yadav, the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Agra was transferred as Secretary (full time) as confirmed by the Registrar of HC.

The cop has been identified as Ghurelal who was allegedly forced by the judge to take off his shirt, belt and cap and made to stand in court for almost an hour on Friday as a mark of punishment for allegedly not giving passage to judge’s car.

Ghurelal, who was driving a police van carrying accused to be presented before the court, was reportedly punished for not giving passage to the judge’s vehicle in the court premises, The Hindu reported.

The constable wrote to the district police chief and sought voluntary retirement.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Agra Babloo Kumar said that he had forwarded the complaint of the constable to the district judge of Agra, Registrar General of High Court Allahabad and an administrative judge, requesting them to take appropriate action after a probe.
