Thiruvananthapuram: Loknath Behera warns cops on custodial torture

The directive was issued in the wake of police in the dock in cases including Nedumkandam custodial death.

Thiruvananthapuram: State Police Chief Loknath Behera has warned strict action against the police officials using third degree methods and custodial torture in police stations and jails. In a directive issued to district police chiefs, Mr Behera asked them make a list of police officers who indulged in such actions and submit it within a week. If they are proven guilty, strict action will be taken against them.

The directive was issued in the wake of police in the dock in cases including Nedumkandam custodial death.

A re-post mortem will be conducted on Monday on the body Rajkumar, who died in custodial death in Nedumkandam police station in the presence of judicial commission Justice Narayana Kurup.
