IMA: BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan, R Roshan Baig to appear before SIT
Bengaluru: Chamarajpet MLA B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan and disqualified MLA R. Roshan Baig will appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the multi-crore I Monetary Advisory (IMA) investment scam on Monday.
SIT officials have been tightlipped about the investigation but revealed that the two MLAs have been given different time slots to appear for questioning.
Both Zameer and Baig's names figured when the SIT questioned the arrested accused. While Zameer was earlier summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), in whose custody the IMA group MD and kingpin Mohammed Mansoor Khan is currently in.
Mansoor is being interrogated for all transactions of the company. Zameer had produced documents before the ED pertaining to the transaction of Rs 5 crore done with Khan after purchasing a property.
Baig has been on the SIT's radar since Mansoor Khan's first audio clip went viral, in which he had accused Baig of not returning Rs 400 crore he had taken from him.
Though Baig had rubbished the allegation and initially claimed he had no contact with Khan, former revenue minister R.V. Deshpande's statement that Baig had accompanied Mansoor Khan to his chamber for a NoC further aroused suspicion among the SIT officials.
Baig was first detained on the night of July 15 from Kempegowda International Airport while he was trying to board a private aircraft.
He was let off the next day as the SIT has summoned him for questioning on July 19. Baig appeared before the SIT on July 19 and had submitted relevant documents.
Meanwhile, Mansoor Khan was arrested at the Delhi airport on July 19 after he travelled from Dubai.
He was brought to Bengaluru on the next day and produced before the court.
Mansoor Khan had earlier fled the country on June 7 leaving thousands of investors in IMA group in the lurch.
So far, nearly 50,000 complaints have been filed by the investors and 22 people including 12 board of directors of IMA, auditor Iqbal Khan, Bengaluru Urban DC B.M. Vijay Shankar, BDA Executive Engineer P.D. Kumar, BBMP nominated corporator Syed Mujahid, Assistant Commissioner of Revenue Department L.C. Nagaraj and Village Accountant
Manjunath, have been arrested.
