KOZHIKODE: "I cannot follow a policy of criticising chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan as soon as I get up in the morning every day," according to CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran.
"Whenever there has been deviation from the Left policy, I have criticised the chief minister. As the CPI state secretary, I have done everything possible regarding the brutal beating up of CPI leaders by the police in Ernakulam and there is nothing more to be done on the issue," he told reporters here on Sunday.
Mr Rajendran, who was here to attend the party zonal committee meeting, said the chief minister had come out against the police excesses after his demand.
"I hope the government will take action once the district collector submits his report," he added. On the allegations levelled against his son, he said that he did not take them seriously as they were baseless.
If some have an issue in the party, they should raise it in the party forums and not in public. "If any allegations are proved, strict action would be taken even against the party secretary," he added.
