Hyderabad: Cabbie suffers seizure, mows down guard

A cop said claim of cab driver that he suffered a seizure which caused the accident is being verified.

Hyderabad: A cab driver reportedly suffered a seizure while driving and rammed his car into a traffic home guard in Begumpet, killing him on the spot.

A Begumpet police officer said claim of cab driver M. Ravi Krishna that he suffered a seizure which caused the accident is being verified. The vehicle was on its way to Panjagutta from Secunderabad and the driver was taking some employees to work.

Begumpet inspector T.S. Uma Maheshwar Rao said, “Traffic home guard S. Prabhakar, 27, was on duty in front of Almas Hotel. The vehicle rammed him and dragged him for about 15 metres on the main road, leading to severe injuries to his chest and other places on the body.”

Prabhakar was rushed to a nearby private hospital by onlookers where he was declared dead, the inspector said.

Ravi Krishna’s vehicle hit some other vehicles travelling in front of it before coming to a halt on the road. Some passengers in the other vehicles were said to have suffered minor injuries when the cab him them.
