RTC Maveli services to clear Onam rush
Thiruvananthapuram: KSRTC will conduct Maveli Bus Service for the outstation Malayalis to travel to the state during Onam season.
The decision to introduce 100 more buses from August 17 to September 1 between major cities of the state to destinations like Bangalore, Mysore, and Coimbatore was to ensure that private operators did not fleece them.
More buses will be operated to Chennai also if they receive permits.
The charge of service will be kept in the medium range. Apart from multi-axle Scania and Volvo buses, Super Deluxe, Super Air Express, Superfast and fast passengers will also be pressed into service.
KSRTC chairman and managing director Tomin J. Thachankary said that KSRTC introduced the new service because it was receiving several requests on their Faceb-ook page and through emails.
All these services will have an online reservation facility, and seats can be reserved onwww.keralartc.in and redBus booking network, said Mr Thachankary.
Though KSRTC had been operating more inter-state services during the Onam season, it's found to be insufficient. Moreover, private operators have a habit of increasing the fare two to three times during the Onam season.
