Exclusion from sops worry Gulf migrants

The Gulf migrants are financially vulnerable and only a few of them hold some farm lands in their native villages.

Nizamabad: Gulf migrants in north Telangana districts are a worried lot as the state government has excluded them from the Rs 4,000 per acre financial aid scheme in Telangana state.

Moreover, insurance coverage for farmers is also not being considered for the Gulf migrants.

According to sources, around 18,000 Gulf migrants have been adversely affected by the two schemes in undivided Nizamabad district. The Gulf migrants are financially vulnerable and only a few of them hold some farm lands in their native villages.

In search of livelihood, the semi-skilled and unskilled workers go to Gulf countries but they do have land in their names.

However, citing non residency in home land, they are denied of benefits from the government scheme by the officials.

Telangana and Gulf Cultural Association president P. Basanth Reddy told Deccan Chronicle that the state government should also extend its financial aid scheme for the migrants.

Except the heat of the family all other members reside in villages and the government should provide financial aid scheme and insurance facility for them immediately.
