SCB to open two closed roads, relief for residents
Hyderabad: The fight of Secunderabad residents for reopening of closed SCB is likely to pay dividends. SCB vice-president J. Rama Krishna said that the board would take steps to re-open two roads.
This follows an RTI reply that revealed that a few roads that were claimed by the Army actually belonged to the SCB.
“This issue will be part of the board meeting to be held in a couple of weeks. After the RTI reply, the Estates office said that it was their mistake and clarified that only two roads, and not six as mentioned, belonged to the SCB. We will take a decision and forward it to the Southern Comm-and in Pune,” he said.
There is a difference of opinion between the residents and the auth-orities over the number of roads.
The Federation of North Eastern Colonies of Secunderabad claims that six roads in Survey No. 779 belong to SCB as per the RTI reply given by the Defence Estates Office.
Federation president B. Rajeshwar Rao said that six roads in the Bolarum Golf Course area belonged to the SCB as per the General Land Register maintained by the DEO.
Cantonment CEO S.V.R. Chandrashekar said that the DEO had given a clarification that there was a lapse on the part of the office clerk in giving the RTI information.
“We have requested him to look into the matter and specify the number of roads that are with the SCB,” he said.
