Pawan kalyan may finalise Deeksha date
Visakhapatnam: Actor-turned-politician and Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan is likely to finalise the dates for the Dakshina Bharat Atmagaurava deeksha rally during his visit to Vizag. The deeksha is likely to be held next month, at RK Beach in Vizag.
Following Mr Kalyan’s invitation, a team of doctors from Harvard, led by Dr Joseph Bonventre, the chief of the renal division at Brigham Women’s Hospital, will visit the Uddanam region of Srikakulam district, on July 29.
Around 34,000 people in this region are said to be suffering from kidney disease. The Harvard team will be accompanied by another team of experts, whose trip will be sponsored by the Jana Sena. Mr Kalyan will also visit Vizag on July 29 to interact with the medical teams.
Sources in the Jana Sena say that the leaders are determined to make the deeksha a grand success.
Satish Kumar, Jana Sena leader for Vizag, says that some senior members of the party will meet with Mr Kalyan after completion of the Uddanam tour, to decide the deeksha dates. “The ongoing issue regarding reservations for Kapus may not feature in the discussions,” he says.
Outlining Mr Kalyan’s itinerary, Mr Satish says that the party chief will arrive at Vizag on July 29, welcome the team of doctors from Harvard, and conduct a meeting at Andhra Medical College.
Dr T. Ravi Raju, the vice-chancellor of NTR Health University will preside over the meeting. After the meeting, the medical team will leave for the Borivanka area of Uddanam mandal in Srikakulam district, by bus.
After meeting with locals and interacting with village leaders, Mr Kalyan will conduct a Rachabanda programme in the village, after which he will return to Vizag.
On July 30, he will attend a symposium at the V. Convention Hall which is located near the PM Palem area of Vizag city.
