Hyderabad: Lake police rescued two women from suicide on Thursday. The women are M. Rama Devi, 40, a housewife from Warangal and Phoolu Bai, a housewife and resident of Basheerbagh.
The first incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when Rama Devi tried to jump into upper tank bund near the children's park. “She was married and had two children. Her husband works as an autorickshaw driver and is an alcoholic. He often picks up quarrels with her over petty issues and questions her character. On Thursday the couple fought over a petty issue. She got upset over the continuous fights and went to commit suicide,” said lake police inspector T. Ch. Babu.
In the second incident on Thursday evening Phoolu Bai attempted to commit suicide at the upper tank bund. “She was depressed over losing her mother and it was her first death anniversary,” added the police.
Police counselled both women and handed them over to their families.
