Guntur: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday invited IT firms to Amaravati to help the government develop residuary AP state.
He said this while launching Pi Datacenters, the first IT-based international data service of new capital Amaravati, at IT Park Mangalagiri.
He recalled how he had got records of 6 lakh TD leaders and activists computerised, way back in 1985, by installing a computer in the TD office.
He recalled that internet was introduced in India in 1995 with the monopoly of BSNL and VSNL, which resulted in people waiting for weeks for services.
He claimed former prime ministers H.D. Deve Gowda and I.K. Gujral did not accept his proposal to allow private players in the telecommunications sector, but the A.B. Vajpayee government honoured his suggestion, which brought a revolution by providing internet and mobile services to all.
He claimed that Microsoft had come to Hyderabad due to his efforts.
Mr Naidu said Hitec City was constructed in 15 months, just as Pi Datacenters office came up in the same period, and hoped a good future for cloud data storage.
He said AP was using 1,000 racks for its data storage in this Tier-4 data centre, which is the first of its kind in Asia, and 4,000 racks were allotted to private companies.
He said data is wealth and the future belongs to mobile phones, real time governance and artificial intelligence.
He invited IT firms to Amaravati to make AP technology-knowledge hub. IT minister N. Lokesh the arrival of IT firms and training institutions had started helping local youth get jobs. He sought the use of technology towards elimination of poverty.
