17 people from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh cheated
Hyderabad: The 24-member gang which had been operating from Delhi trapped people across the country. Inquiries revealed that 17 people from both the Telugu states lost money to the gang.
Police found the suspects after calling the victims wrote their response in their diaries and handed them over to seniors who took up the process.
Diaries seized by the police had contact numbers of around 200 persons from different parts of the country. The police contacted the numbers and found that 17 of them were from Telangana and AP.
“Though many were cheated by the gang they did not lodge complaints as their losses were small. We are trying to trace the victims,” joint police commissioner Tarun Joshi said, adding that only one case has been registered against the gang in Tirupati. Police also found that the eight persons who were arrested played a major role in the racket. Sixteen other employees worked for salaries. “They were all either XII passed or in their graduation and depending on their skills they were paid up to Rs 20,000 and commissions on successful deals,” the official said.
