Siddaramaiah reaches Belgium, son stable

Rakesh Siddaramaiah was admitted to a hospital in Antwerp three days ago. He is said to be stable and responding to treatment now.

Bengaluru: Rakesh Siddaramaiah, elder son of Chief minister Siddaramaiah who is on ventilator support at the Antwerp University Hospital in Belgium, is yet to gain consciousness, sources said.

Rakesh was admitted to the hospital three days back after he complained of severe pain. Sources close to the Siddaramaiah family said that he had major complications of the pancreas and liver.

Mr Siddaramaiah along with principal secretary L.K. Ateeq and parliamentary secretary, Govindraj reached Brussels on Thursday while his wife, Parvathi is expected to leave for Brussels on Friday morning, the CM’s office said.

Ambassador of India Manjeev Puri received the CM at the Airport and took him to the Antwerp University Hospital. The CM saw Rakesh who is suffering from acute pancreatitis. The CM also met his family members who are camping at Antwerp. He was briefed by a team of doctors. The condition of Mr. Rakesh is stable and he is gradually responding to treatment, said sources.

Dr Yatheendra Siddaramaiah, the younger son, along with two other doctors from the city, had reached Brussels two days back. Rakesh had celebrated his 37th birthday last week and left the city with two of his friends around the same time.
