Patna: The Patna high court on Thursday cancelled the membership of BJP MP Chedi Paswan for hiding facts in the election affidavit.
The single bench of Justice K.K. Mandal while hearing the petition filed by Ganga Mishra from Bhabhua disqualified Chedi Paswan on the grounds that he tried to hide facts regarding pending criminal cases by not mentioning it in his election affidavit.
The court said that, “it is mandatory for candidates to mention pending criminal cases in the affidavit filed during election”. Mr. Paswan had defeated Congress’ Meira Kumar from Sasaram.
