MALAPPURAM: A Kannur-native youth suffering from mental disorder went on a rampage in a Kozhikode-bound flight from Dubai shouting against the Islamic State and injuring some passengers on Thursday.
The youth and his brother, who was escorting him, were on their way to their home at Kadavathur in Kannur for treatment of his nervous breakdown.
The flight made an emergency landing in Mumbai airport and both were detained by the police after the airline lodged a complaint against the conduct of the passenger.
According to the passengers of the Dubai-Kozhikode Indigo flight, the youth made a short speech against the terror outfit and turned violent immediately after take-off from Dubai. Some of the passengers also sustained injuries in the attack. The youth had documents to prove his mental illness and his brother intimated it to the co-passengers, said a senior CISF officer. The flight which was scheduled to arrive at Karipur at 9.50 a.m. landed at 12 noon.
