AP BJP calls for arrests in assault, kidnap of its leader

The BJP leaders sought arrest of Allagadda MLA Gangula Brijendra Reddy’s followers on charges of abduction and attempt to murder Hasan

Vijayawada: AP BJP has appealed to Director General of Police to book a case and arrest those involved in the kidnap and murder attempt on its party Yuva Morcha leader Hasan of Allagadda in Kurnool district.

A delegation of state BJP leaders led by party state general secretary S. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy arrived at the DGP’s office on Tuesday and submitted a representation to additional DG Ravi Sankar Ayyanar. The BJP leaders sought arrest of Allagadda MLA Gangula Brijendra Reddy’s followers on charges of abduction and attempt to murder Hasan. They further wanted suspension of local circle inspector Krishnaiah for supporting the accused in their unlawful activities.

Later, Vishnu Vardhan Reddy told media persons that when their party leader Hasan questioned the corrupt practices of Allagadda MLA, the legislator, along with his supporters, assaulted Hasan and even tried to kill him. The BJP state general secretary alleged their party leaders and supporters are facing similar threats all over the state whenever they confront illegal acts of YSR Congress leaders. He pointed out that many of their party leaders have been booked under false cases.

Vishnu Vardhan Reddy said they will not be cowed down by such threats and continue exposing corruption and anti-people policies of the ruling party.

He also demanded withdrawal of cases and release of BJP Yuva Morcha president Surendra Mohan and ABVP state leader Jagdish, as they had been arrested illegally by police when they were agitating against unemployment and other issues.

The BJP state general secretary warned that they would be forced to take up the issue with union home ministry if AP police do not withdraw false cases and release their arrested leaders and activists.
