Kuruba Sangha strongman slips into silent mode, returns to Bengaluru

Siddarmaiah had a closed door meeting with some of the selected leaders for about one hour.

Mangaluru: Completing his two week treatment at Sri Dharmastala Manjunatheshwara Yoga and Nature Cure Hospital in Dharmasthala, former chief minister Siddaramaiah returned to Bengaluru on Thursday. Siddaramaiah who had got admitted on June 17 came out of Shanthivana around 11.45 am on Thursday. Siddaramaiah denied speaking to reporters and went to Dharmasthala. Around noon, he went to Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatha Swamy Temple.

Accompanied by some Congress leaders, including former Minister Abhayachandra Jain, Siddaramaiah went to the temple, had Darshan of the deities and offered prayers there. He had lunch at the guest house of the temple.
People were seen clicking photos of Siddaramaiah and wishing him. Siddaramaiah then left to Mangaluru and spoke to the leaders of Kuruba Sangha at a hostel in Kavoor.

Interestingly Siddaramaiah who is known for his carefree attitude, prefered to be silent. Not only did he abstain from speaking to the media anywhere, he also was visibly silent when members of Kuruba Sangha wanted his leadership for the state. Leaders from other parts of the state too had come to meet Siddaramaiah.

“You should lead as the leader. Kurubas got identity and respect after you became Chief Minister. That should continue. For the sake of our community you should continue to lead the state,” a woman told Siddaramaiah. Similarly other leaders too asked Siddaramaiah to take leadership and not be silent. “We are with you. You are our leader,” they said. Siddaramaiah however preferred not to comment anything or give any response. Except smiles, wishes and thanks, Siddaramaiah hardly spoke much.

He just had a smile on his face without any response for these reactions from the community leaders. Siddarmaiah had a closed door meeting with some of the selected leaders for about one hour. Siddaramaiah then went to Circuit House in Mangaluru where again some of the local corporators met him. He left to airport around 5.45 and took the flight to Bengaluru.
