Mumbai 1993 blasts convict Mustafa Dossa autopsy to ascertain real cause

On Tuesday, CBIâ€s special prosecutor Deepak Salvi had specifically asked for the death sentence to be awarded to Dossa.

Mumbai: Mumbai 1993 blasts convict Mustafa Dossa, 60, died of cardiac arrest on Wednesday afternoon at JJ Hospital, Mumbai. Dossa died a day after the CBI sought death penalty for him.

According to Dr T.P. Lahane, dean of JJ Hospital, Dossa who was lodged in Arthur Road jail was brought to the hospital at 3 am after he complained of chest pain and fever. Dr Lahane said that Dossa also had bad diabetes, hypertension and a urinal tract infection. “

Dossa was admitted to the jail ward of the hospital at 3 am and shifted to the Intensive Coronary Care Unit at around 11.30 am. He breathed his last at 2.30 pm on Wednesday,” Dr Lahane said. He added that the cause of death seemed to be cardiac arrest that Dossa suffered, but the real cause will be ascertained only after an autopsy is performed.

Dossa along with Abu Salem, Tahir Merchant, Karimullah Sheikh, Firoz Khan and Riyaz Siddiqui had been convicted by the special TADA court on June 16 for their involvement in the 1993 serial blasts case.

On Tuesday, CBI”s special prosecutor Deepak Salvi had specifically asked for the death sentence to be awarded to Dossa.

He alleged that Dossa had hatched the entire plan of the blasts and also financed the supply and landing of the arms and explosives.
