HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad High Court has asked the state government to place all details before it by Thursday with regard to setting up of district level and state-level Police Complaint Authority, in pursuance of the judgement of the Supreme Court in the Prakash Singh vs Union of India case. The Supreme Court, among others, had ordered fixed tenures for certain officers.
A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice T. Rajani was dealing with a PIL by Mr Thumma Sripal, a resident of Adilabad, seeking to declare as illegal the action of the authorities in not taking any action in setting up the bodies. Mr Sripal submitted that though the Supreme Court had ordered the setting up of the bodies in 2006, no action had been taken in this regard. He had also represented the matter to the state government in April this year, he said.
