Hyderabad: 12-year-old boy's civic sense produces results
Hyderabad: The image of Ravi Teja, a 12-year-old student, who took it upon himself to fill the potholes on the Habsiguda main road, finally shamed civic officials into action. This newspaper had reported Ravi Teja’s effort on June 27.
The boy was moved by the death of 16-month-old Chinnari who fell into a borewell the previous day, and wanted to prevent other such accidents occurring.
On Wednesday, officials from Hyderabad Metro Rail repaired the stretch of road from Uppal to Habsiguda. Ravi Teja was found watching the staff at work. He told this newspaper, “I am happy with their response. I requested the officials to inspect other roads and restore them too.”
“Many people congratulated me. I received requests for selfies and pictures, including fr-om local political leaders,” said the youngster.
