Plot behind Hyderabad HC split delay, says TRS MP Kavitha
Hyderabad: Flaying the Centre for the delay in bifurcation of the High Court, TRS MP K. Kavitha on Tuesday saw a larger conspiracy behind the postings of judges in Telangana State.
“The Centre has to act immediately. We are ready to give buildings for the AP High Court. They are stopping bifurcation only on the pretext that there is no building in Amravati. How far is this justified?” she asked.
Urging the BJP, Congress and the TD to stage dharnas at High Court to press for early division of the High Court and stop options to Andhra judicial officers, Ms Kavitha alleged that Telangana suffered due to combined judiciary.
“When we approach the HC to protect our lands, it goes in favour of bigwigs. We can’t protect our resources and resolve our issues. If we don’t get justice in courts, where should Telangana people go for this?” she asked.
Ms Kavitha saw a bigger conspiracy in postings of judicial officers. “A good number of Andhra judges are posted in Telangana. Those on verge of retirement were posted in AP while young officers who have 20 to 30 years’ tenure are posted to Telangana. It’s a conspiracy to have proxy rule,” she alleged at a press conference here.
The MP reminded the Centre that when UP and Bihar were formed, judges were posted on the basis of nativity. “Why not in Telangana? Who is behind this conspiracy? All parties, especially the BJP, should ponder over the issue. BJP leaders should ensure early bifurcation of HC,” she said.
When asked about the proposed dharna by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in New Delhi, Ms Kavitha said that the Centre should avoid such a situation.
“This is not good in a democracy .... a Chief Minister holding a dharna against the inaction of the Centre and the Prime Minister. It will be international news and an insult to the Constitution. The Centre should not wait till then but bifurcate the High Court immediately,” she said.
Indrakaran rebuts Gowda charges
The TS and Central governments were involved in a war of words on Tuesday over the bifurcation of the High Court and judicial officers’ allotments.
No sooner had Union Law Minster Sadananda Gowda taken pot-shots at Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on the issue, TS law minister A. Indrakaran Reddy rebutted the former's statements.
Mr Reddy pointed out that Mr Rao had expressed his desire to allot a place and accommodation for judges in the event of bifurcation of the High Court.
“However, the Centre did not act and the Union minister is now talking about problems in creation of facilities,” Mr Reddy said. “The present situation is due to Centre's callous attitude. The AP Chief Minister is exerting pressure on certain quarters in Delhi to delay this process. The judicial fraternity of Telangana took to streets only to seek justice. What is wrong with their demand to bifurcate High Court as per Constitutional provisions?” he asked.
Mr Reddy urged the NDA government to act fast and take steps in that direction, or else the issue will assume huge proportions along the lines of T-movement.
He pointed out that no controversy was seen in division of High Courts when three states-Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh were created by the earlier NDA government. It was done as per Constitution and the same procedure should be adopted here also, Mr Reddy stressed.
