Expedite Hyderabad High Court split, K Chandrasekhar Rao tells Centre
Hyderabad: Stating that tentative allocation of subordinate judicial officers has created discontent among officers and advocates in TS, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday has told the Centre that it should not only expedite the process of bifurcation of the High Court but also issue notification to allocate judicial officers and staff only after High Courts of TS and AP start function separately.
In a letter to Union home minister Rajnath Singh late tonight, Mr Rao, quoting extensively the AP Reorganisation Act, said that as per Section 31 of the Act, the issue of establishing a separate High Court for AP was still pending.
“I would reiterate that process to divide the state and create Telangana is incomplete as the division is limited to the executive and legislature only as the High Court is yet to be divided,” he wrote.
Mr Rao appeared to disagree with Union law minister Sadananda Gowda’s statement earlier in the day who asserted Centre has no role and only AP CM and High Court Chief Justice have to take action to bifurcate the HC and allotment of judges.
He insisted that the Centre alone was competent to allot the judicial officers.
Mr Rao said that out of the 205 judicial officers working in the cadre of district judge as on June 2, 2014, TS was allotted 95 and AP 110 officers respectively.
“Further, In all cadres of judicial officers, including senior and junior civil judges, altogether 143 officers of AP are allocated to TS,” he explained.
