Turmoil in TTD as key officials walk out of meet

The officials including EO Anil Kumar Singhal and JEO K.S. Sreenivasa Raju walked out of the hall, boycotted the meeting.

Tirumala: The meeting of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) trust board on Tuesday at Annamaiah Bhavan in Tirumala, under the chairmanship of Putta Sudhakar Yadav, witnessed turmoil after some of the trustees took a diversion from the set agenda and cornered Tirumala JEO K.S. Sreenivasa Raju by levelling serious allegations against him.

Taking strong objections to the behaviour of the TTD trustees, the officials including EO Anil Kumar Singhal and JEO K.S. Sreenivasa Raju walked out of the hall, boycotted the meeting. This led to the officials and trustees of the TTD board locking horns, exposing the infighting among them.

After the defeat of the Telugu Desam in the recent Assembly elections, this was the first meeting of the TTD trust board, which was appointed by the Naidu government on April 20, 2018. The meeting was convened amidst criticism from the YSR Congress circles and a few sections of the society.

Media persons were not allowed inside the meeting hall, but sources said that soon after the meeting started, trust board member Challa Ramachandra Reddy took strong pot shots at Mr Sreenivasa Raju over not issuing darshan tickets to the board members since May 23 when the election results came.

Mr Challa and other board members also started levelling accusations against the JEO and it was said that they used improper language against him, over which the top brass of the TTD raised protest and left the place.

“It seems that this was a well-planned act framed by the trustees to target the senior officials of the TTD. Board chairman Putta Sudhakar Yadav, who was supposed to control the board members and set things right, did not intervene, a TTD official said.
