Telangana: Officials inspect Gajwel accident spot

To avoid and control the number of accidents, a high-level meeting will be conducted and an action plan made involving all stakeholders.

Hyderabad: Director General Telangana for Road Safety T. Krishna Prasad visited the spot near Rimmanaguda village on Gajwel outskirts, where 13 people died in a multi-vehicle crash.

On Monday, a biker and his pillion were injured when their two-wheeler crashed into the median at Rimmanaguda. Mallayya, 65, was hit by a vehicle and received severe injuries. He was rushed to Hyderabad for better treatment and his condition is said to be critical. Speaking after the visit, Mr Krishna Prasad said the accident mainly occured due to human error.

To avoid and control the number of accidents, a high-level meeting will be conducted and an action plan made involving all stakeholders. “A detailed report on the accident will be submitted to the government. Meanwhile, caution boards should be set up at few locations, to alert the drivers,” he said.

He further added that commuters should follow safety norms, stick to speed limits and pay heed to the passenger capacity limit of a passenger vehicle and load limit for transport vehicles. Mr Krishna Prasad also instructed officials of HKR road authority to set up speed limit boards on the highway immediately.
