Hyderabad: Job seekers in new districts will be the major beneficiaries of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti government’s new zoning system which was approved by the state cabinet on Sunday.
The new districts which were created in October 2016 will have more vacancies than the old districts because no new staff was appointed in the new districts and existing employees were adjusted from the undivided districts on 'order to serve' basis.
With the finalisation of the new zoning system, the government wants to fill in vacancies in new districts first. Around 20,000 vacancies are expected to arise in the new districts, which will create employment for locals.
Another notable change is that there will be no direct recruitment for state-cadre posts like Group-I. The state-cadre posts have been converted into multi-zonal posts.
In the old zoning system, it was difficult for candidates from backward districts to compete with their counterparts in developed districts such as Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Karimnagar and Warangal, and secure state-cadre posts like deputy collector, DSP, RDO spell out etc.
Moreover, candidates from Seemandhra who have become locals by virtue of their school study from Class VII to XII mostly in Hyderabad, used to give tough competition to natives of Telangana.
However, the Chief Minister has changed the local eligibility condition to Class I to VII, with the aim that those who are born in Telangana should get jobs here.
When the CM discussed the new local reservation norms in the cabinet meeting, some ministers raised concerns about the possibility of fake school certificates from private schools which have no regulatory mechanism.
The CM directed Deputy CM and education minister Kadiam Srihari to devise an effective mechanism to check such irregularities and submit to the cabinet in the next meeting.
Leaders of various TS employees associations, G. Deviprasad, V. Srinivas Goud, Karem Ravinder Reddy who were 'special invitees' at the cabinet meeting for the first time, were elated with the CM’s announcement of 95 per cent quota for locals in all zones.
"Jobs for Telangana natives was one of the major taglines for Telangana statehood agitation. We are glad that the CM has fulfilled this demand by creating new zones and giving 95 per cent quota for locals," they said.
