Locally sourced utility products, at doorstep

Locally grown tea from Gujarat, unpolished pulses from Salem or the original Kumbakonam filter coffee.

Chennai: Padma Prakash, a woman entrepreneur, has made available locally sourced home and kitchen, utility products at economical prices to ease the lives of homemakers. Locally grown tea from Gujarat, unpolished pulses from Salem or the original Kumbakonam filter coffee - she makes it all available at your doorstep.

Marketing her products as ‘Sreshta Samagree,’ Padma is also working with other women as part of the Marketing Organisation of Women Entrepreneurs (MOOWES) an NGO that encourages women entrepreneurs by making their products reach customers through exhibitions.

Padma started off on a small scale three years back promoting the Wagh Bakri tea, which she personally felt was of supreme quality and wanted to spread the experience with others. “The tea is not available at supermarkets and I started promoting the brand. I also offer free delivery to nearby areas. Later, the product range was expanded to include a number of kitchen and utility products,” she told Deccan Chronicle.

Padma makes her products reach homemakers of the city through the NGO and independently. “I sell products like unpolished pulses, incense sticks, organic rice, Kumbakonam coffee and Wagh Bakri tea. Through MOOWES, I have been able to set up stalls and get in touch with consumers,” said Padma.

The best part, she added, is that customers after using these locally sourced products find them better over those that are rampantly sold in the market and, noting the quality difference, keep coming back to buy the products. Free delivery is an added benefit to consumers in the heart of the city, she added.

The response, Padma said, has helped her expand the portfolio of her products, and she creates awareness on using locally sourced and organic products through the stalls she sets up for exhibiting and selling these products. Padma is available at 9940165272.
