Hyderabad: AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu appears to have taken seriously the possibility that his and his party’s image may be damaged by allegations of corruption. During the first two days of the ongoing Mahanadu, Mr Naidu mentioned allegations being made by the opposition YSRC and the media owned by its president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and the need to counter it at least four times.
He also appeared to be worried about reports in the Sakshi group about alleged corruption in Amaravati. On Saturday, he said that if the Opposition repeats the allegations 10 times, the public may believe them. He called upon leaders and activists to counter thee on every possible platform. He asked them not to keep quiet when such allegations are made.
The YSRC had recently published a book on alleged corruption by Mr Naidu which was given to national leaders and Union ministers. During the 2014 elections and prior to that, the TD had targeted Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy by repeatedly alleging that he had amassed Rs 1 lakh crore. Mr Naidu has been repeatedly stating that his political career is not tainted with corruption. He refuted the allegations that he succumbed to pressure and failed to take up the special status issue with the Centre.
