TMC scouting for options to register protest against EC
Kolkata: Alleging that "atrocities" were inflicted on TMC by a section of Election Commission officials and central forces in the recently concluded Assembly elections, the party leadership is scouting for options for registering protest against the poll body.
"A section of the Election Commission and some of its officers especially those who were controlling the central forces created havoc during the polls. It is because of them that we have got five-six per cent less votes in Kolkata and nearby areas.
"The officers in-charge of central forces had created a separate command all together. This is unprecedented. We will move to bigger platforms to seek justice against the atrocity that was unleashed on us during the polls," a senior TMC leader said on condition of anonymity.
"They have acted in a big brotherly manner against us. Just a day before the April 30 elections, the central forces threatened voters and asked them not to come out for voting on the following day," the TMC leader said.
TMC time and again during the assembly elections had slammed the Election Commission for allegedly playing into the hands of opposition parties.
"It has been proved that most of the complaints lodged with EC by opposition parties were fake. So will there be any action for lodging fake complaints?" another TMC leader asked.
TMC last week had blamed two senior IPS officers who were in-charge of the central forces during the assembly polls for working on behalf of the opposition parties.
