PG medical aspirants waiting for orders of writ appeals and petitions pending

The respondents were told to file counter affidavits.

Hyderabad: A division bench comprising Justice A.V. Sesha Sai and Justice M. Seetharama Murti of the Hyderabad High Court has ruled that any selections through web counselling for admissions to PG courses in medical colleges under the purview of the Dr NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada and the Dr Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, at Warangal will be subject to the final outcome of writ appeals and petitions pending before the court.

The bench was hearing separate writ appeals, the first batch by Dr M. Apoorva and others, challenging a single-judge order directing to accept options through SMS.

The second was a writ petition by Dr Karunakar, civil assistant surgeon from Siricilla, challenging the decision of the varsities not to allow him to verify and complete options in both AP and TS.

The third batch of petitions were by Dr Abhishek and others, questioning the authorities’ decision to show meritorious candidates in the reservation category and allotting seats to them.

K.V. Simhadri, counsel appearing for the petitioners, submitted that not allowing aspirants to complete options in both the states will cause a huge loss to in-service candidates and showing the meritorious candidates in reservation category has hampered the chances of reservation categories.

While observing that any selection in web counselling was subject to the final order of the court, the bench directed the registry to club all the petitions and post them on June 3. The respondents were told to file counter affidavits.
