Heavy rain hits traffic, trees uprooted in Bengaluru

A large tree branch fell in Kumar Swamy Layout Second Phase.

Bengaluru: Heavy rains affected traffic movement, brought down six trees and flooded several areas of the city on Saturday evening. The city received 7.4 mm rain on Saturday.

Two trees collapsed in HSR Layout and a tree each in Hulimavu near Meenakshi temple, JP Nagar II Phase, Kasavanahalli-Sarjapur Main Road and near Chinnaswamy Stadium. A large tree branch fell in Kumar Swamy Layout Second Phase.

Water logging was reported from near Doddatoguru bus stop on Electronic City Main Road and Journalists’ Colony near Urvashi Theatre. Traffic jams were seen at Veerasandra Junction on Hosur Main Road, Seshadri Puram police station junction, Goragunte Palya junction, Electronics City, Police Thimmaiah Circle, Peenya Circle from Yeshwanthpura Circle to Tumakuru road, South End circle, Lalbagh West Gate junction towards Minerva circle, Siddapura Circle, Kundalahalli Gate junction towards Marathalli bridge, Ashirvadam junction towards Anil Kumble Circle on St. Mark's road, satellite bus stand junction towards KIMCO BHEL on Mysuru Road and Mysore Bank Circle.

M.G. Nagendra Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police - Command Centre, Bengaluru, tweeted, requesting parents not to send their children to play near storm drains.
