DVAC IG gets fourth extension

Hailing from Madurai and an agricultural science graduate, Gunaseelan was selected by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission in 1985

Chennai: Inspector general A.M.S. Gunaseelan, officer on special duty at the directorate of vigilance and anti-corruption (DVAC) handling chief minister J. Jayalalithaa’s asset case, was given another round of extension – the fourth one – by the government on Saturday. He was to retire from service on May 31, 2013.

It may be recalled that after he took charge as IG, DVAC on May 23, 2011 and held the additional charge of the joint director and his tenure at the DVAC witnessed raids at the places of DMK ministers.

In November 2012, DVAC conducted searches on the premises of former DMK ministers Veerapandi S. Arumugam, K. Ponmudy, K.N. Nehru, M.R.K. Panneerselvam, T.M. Anbarasan, K.P.P. Samy, Durai Murugan and Pongalur Palanisamy in connection with disproportionate assets cases.
