Nizamabad: Police circle inspector threatens of suicide over work pressure
Nizamabad: A police circle inspector posted a message on social media stating that he would end his life because he was unable to bear alleged pressure from power groups. The video went viral on social media on Sunday, and senior officials responded quickly.
Mr J. Damodar Reddy had joined as Rudrur circle inspector six months ago, under the Banswada Assembly constituency, represented by Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy.
District police officers shifted Mr Damodar Reddy under police escort to his residence in Hyderabad.
“I have been in the police department for last the 30 years but I am forced to end life as I am unable to cope with the pressure from a group,” he said in the video. “DGP M. Mahendar Reddy is efficient and a humane and kind officer, but officers like me (Damodar Reddy) are unable to face the pressures,” he said. “My death may be an eye-opener for others,” he said.
The inspector’s video came in the midst of a row over the transportation of sand in Banswada Assembly constituency. The alleged involvement of a few police officers widened the gap between elected representatives and the police. District police officers have launched an inquiry.
