Hyderabad: South Zone cops hold programme on traffic safety

The Hyderabad traffic police ranked no. 1 in the country in using technology.

Hyderabad: The South Zone Traffic Police of Hyderabad city organised a traffic awareness programme at Bandlaguda and Chandrayangutta in Hyderabad on Saturday.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Hyderabad Commissioner of Police Anjani Kumar requested the people to extend their co-operation to make Hyderabad an accident-free city.

He further stated that Hyderabad traffic police ranked no. 1 in the country in using technology.

The signal system in Hyderabad was improved after officials visited countries like Singapore and America to study its implementation there.

He requested the gathering to follow the traffic laws to make Hyderabad no.1 city in the country by reducing fatal accidents. The efforts and the scientific steps initiated by the Hyderabad Traffic Police have already reduced the accidents by 25 per cent.

Anil Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic, said that all city residents must discourage minors from driving by explaining to them the risks involved

Temporary signals and a photo exhibition put up to educate the gathering, stole the show. People present on the occasion interacted with the police and clarified their doubts pertaining to traffic laws.

A 'license mela' organised by traffic police at the event received a good response and 27 learners' licenses were issued to applicants.

At the end of the programme, the gathering was administered an oath on traffic discipline.
