Tech-savvy way to take Ramanuja teachings to world

He was the first to bring the downtrodden into temples and strove to remove class-based discrimination.

CHENNAI: Though he is held in high reverence by his followers and devotees, saint Ramanuja was indeed a revolutionary savant, who 1,000 years ago did something none ever thought of. He was the first to bring the downtrodden into temples and strove to remove class-based discrimination. And in consonance with this great saint's philosophy, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches a unique mobile app on May 1, probably the first on the saint, the entire world will be able to imbibe the nectarine philosophy of Ramanuja.

“The LIFCO Parampara app” for mobile, which will be launched by Mr. Modi, will showcase the entire works of Sri Ramanuja. “It is a free app. Anyone can download it and read at leisure,” says T.N.C. Vijayasarathy chairman, Lifco Group. Speaking to DC on Friday he, explaining the reasons for coming up with this idea, said, “not many are aware of the voluminous works of this great saint. So, we wanted to bring to the world what he has done for benefit of mankind.”

“He taught us simple ways to follow in life and preached six orders to attain salvation. Swamy Ramanuj was the only 'Acharya' whom Nammalwar acknowledged and spoke about in Thiruvaimozhi through the verses 'Poliga Poliga.' and he was also the only 'Acharya', whose 'Vigraham' came up as 'Bavishyat Acharyan' even before Swami Ramanuja was born, and held by all our 'Poorvacharyas' in their Thiruvaradhanam (worship),” says Ms. Radha Vijayasarathy, managing director of Lifco Publications who is instrumental in bringing out the mobile app.

May 1 was chosen as it coincides with the Thiruvathurai Thirunakshatram (birth star) of the savant. Mr Modi will also release a special commemorative stamp on the occasion.
