Plaint against Warangal collector

When asked, Ms. Amrapali told Deccan Chronicle that she has not bought any movie tickets as alleged in the complaint.

Warangal: The Baahubali frenzy seems to be everywhere. On Friday, a complaint was filed against Warangal Urban Collector Amrapali Kata in the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System, alleging that the IAS officer had booked 500 tickets of Baahubali 2 for her staff members.

Thirumal Prasad Pa-til, an IT professional from Hyderabad, filed the complaint, stating that it was a violation of the collector’s auth-ority to book the tickets to reward officials.

“This is nothing but a sheer violation of her authority and goi-ng beyond her limits. These acts are unacce-ptable in a democracy and send out the wrong message.”

This must be treated as a violation of service rules and appropriate action must be initiated,” Mr. Patil said in his complaint.

When asked, Ms. Amrapali told Deccan Chronicle that she has not bought any movie tickets as alleged in the complaint.

“We blocked some tickets of Baahubali 2 to improve morale and build team spirit among our staff. No government money was used for this. Everyone is paying with their own money. It is a very common practice in the corporate world, so we thought we could try it,” she said.

Some tickets from each show were blocked to give staff members an opportunity to watch the movie. The collector, during a recent review meeting on city beautification works, had expressed satisfaction over the works and had said she would take her staffers out to watch Baahubali 2.
