Hyderabad warm, a little rain takes the edge off; expect more of the same today
Hyderabad: Giving the people relief from weeks of searing heat, parts of the city received light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms on Friday evening. The maximum temperature, however, stayed stubbornly at 41.3ºC. Amberpet recorded 3.5 mm of rain, Nampally 2.5 mm and Nawabpet in Vikarabad 3 cm rain. Heavy rainfall was reported in Kollapur and Wana-parthy of Mahbubnagar.
A report said 20 goats had died at Kagazghat in Manchal mandal of Ranga Reddy district after being struck by a thunderbolt. The weather bureau has issued another rain warning for Saturday. Thunder-storms accompanied by squalls are likely at isolated places in the districts, the India Meteorological Department said.
The forecast for the state is light to moderate rain/thundershowers at isolated places. The city is likely to witness rain or thundershowers towards the afternoon or evening. The freak weather is being caused by a trough from north Telangana state to Cape Comorin.
