Eluru civic body approves budget of Rs 218 crore
Kakinada: The Eluru Municipal Corporation approved a budget of Rs 218 crore with a closing balance of Rs 30.09 crore. The Budget meeting was held at the civic body’s office on Tuesday.
Mayor Shaik Nurjahan said Rs 188 crore will be allocated towards various development works in Eluru city, including Rs 2.29 crore for the development of Scheduled Caste areas, Rs 1.06 crore towards development of Schedule Tribe areas, Rs 71 lakh for women and child welfare and Rs 5.66 crore to develop slum areas. Further, Rs 42 lakh would be spent towards welfare of differently-abled persons. Infrastructure would be developed in all municipal corporation schools in Eluru, the mayor added.
Co-option member Sheikh Mujibar Rehman said new door numbers will be given to house and property owners in the city this year.
Participants at the meeting observed two minutes of silence to express their condolences over the death of IT Minister Mekapati Gowtham Reddy.
Corporation commissioner D. Chandrasekhar, assistant commissioner Bapiraju and others were present.
