Transferred SP A. Venkata Ratnam files suit against YSRC

Mr Ratnam said Mr Reddy’s allegations were false and he had not escorted any vehicle carrying money.

Srikakulam/Kadapa: Former Srikakulam SP A. Venkata Ratnam, who was transferred by the Election Commission on a complaint from the YSRC, has filed a defamation case against YSRC leader V. Vijaya Sai Reddy.

Mr Ratnam said Mr Reddy’s allegations were false and he had not escorted any vehicle carrying money. The YSRC had alleged that he had escorted a consignment of Rs 50 crore belonging to a cousin of TD candidate Kondru Murali from the Narayana College Visakhapatnam on orders from DGP R.P. Thakur.

Meanwhile, Mr Rahul Dev Sharma, who was transferred as Kadapa SP by the Election Commission, has written to the poll panel to inquire into the complaint lodged against him by the YSRC and punish him if he was guilty or take action against those who had lodged the complaint.

“I do not know based on what allegation ECI took this decision. Also, it is not known whether ECI made any enquiries in this matter or not,” Mr Sharma stated.
