Khammam: A good facility has been provided by the Election Commission for polling staff on election duty. They can vote in the polling station where they are working by obtaining the Election Duty Certificate (EDC).
It is an additional facility to the polling staff along with the postal ballot.
The polling officials such as assistant returning officers and others can fill up form 12A before the elections and get an EDC. They can use their franchise in the polling booths by producing the EDC. The form should be filled up and submitted to the assistant returning officers.
Many of the employees are not aware of the facility, which was introduced recently, and about using the postal ballot.
The EDC can be issued in pursuance of the provisions of rule 20 of the CE rules, 1960.
