More area for veggies at Nrusimha Vanam

The authorities of Simhachalam temple have decided to increase the area of Nrusimha Vanam.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Buoyed by the success of their venture the authorities of Simhachalam temple have decided to increase the area of Nrusimha Vanam (garden with all varieties) of Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Devasthanam to grow more vegetables, flowers and fruits and also green fodder for cows at its goshala.

The Nrusimha Vanam is spread over 90 acres of the foothills of Simhachalam and grows a variety of medicinal, floral and vegetable plants. “We developed the Nrusimha Vanam at the foothills of Simhachalam (Krushnapuram area) few years ago to cultivate vegetables and flowers. Nakshatra vanam has been raised in Nrusimha Vananm with trees identified with the signs for each of constellation (janma nakshatra) and lawns. We have decided to increase the Nrusimha Vanam from 90 acres to 120 acres in the coming months for more production of vegetables and grow green fodder for cows at the temple's goshala,” said executive officer of Simhachalam temple, K. Ramachandra Mohan.

“Using organic farming methods in the garden, 70 tonnes of vegetables were grown last year,” he said. “We are expecting at least 100 tonnes of vegetables per year by increasing the area by 30 more acres to meet the total requirement for Annadanam from it,” said Ramachandra Mohan.
