Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday directed the TS government to submit records pertaining to land acquisition for the Kalyani Khani Open Cast Mining' project in tribal areas in Mancherial district.
A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shameem Akhter was dealing with a PIL by Telangana Vidhyavanthula Vedika challenging the issuing of land acquisition notification without conducting a gram sabha.
B. Rachana Reddy, counsel for the petitioner, submitted that in case of acquisition or alienation of land in the Scheduled Areas, prior consent of the concerned gram sabha or panchayats or autonomous district councils has to be obtained before issuing notifications.
