DMK complains of thoppi' distributing money
Chennai: The DMK on Tuesday lodged yet another complaint with the election officials alleging that the ruling AIADMK campaigners in RK Nagar were distributing money to the voters.
They produced as evidence a video clipping that showed two men in action, one of them wearing ‘thoppi’ (hat), the election symbol of party deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran contesting the April 12 bypoll.
In the video clip that has gone viral since late Monday, a man hands over some money to a woman standing outside her house while his accomplice, wearing TTV's poll symbol ‘thoppi’, makes a note in a book. Lawyers representing the DMK candidate Marudhu Ganesh handed over the video clip along with a written complaint to the Returning Officer Praveen Nair, who promised to look into the matter. “We have also complained about health minister C. Vijayabhaskar involved in distribution of saris and utensils to the voters in RK Nagar. The EC officials are not taking proper action.
There was some response, though delayed and subdued, when our lawyers and other party workers threatened road-roko”, Marudhu Ganesh told DC.
