Chennai: Tanker operators asked to refrain from strike
Chennai: Senior officers of the Chennai Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) parleyed with CMWSSB water tanker contractors to not side with private contractors as the latter plan a strike in the next few days.
According to sources in CMWSSB, managing director, V Arun Roy, has requested contractors to not participate in the strike taking the common man’s plight during this summer into consideration. He asked metro water officials to instruct contractors, in case a strike happens, for increased tanker trips during the days of the strike so that more water is supplied to residents of these areas and people can store sufficient water.
